Unrest in the
Middle East
The last few weeks of unrest in the Middle East have led even the most seasoned observers to wonder where the region is heading.
The success of ‘people power’ in Egypt has electrified public opinion throughout a region where a similar set of ills - autocracy, corruption, unemployment - are common.
The impact of the crisis on regional economies - in the obvious areas as the oil prices, tourism and the ability to attract foreign investment - has already been severe.
In the past, Brand Environment has worked in the Middle East in projects including the rebranding of Sama, Saudi Arabia’s low cost airline. With the help of United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI), we have been in contact with companies in countries such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE.
Many representatives of these countries are quick to highlight the fact that Europeans tend to “give up” hope of working in the Middle East too soon. We have been determined to be an exception to the rule and have built relationships with many companies, especially in the transport sector.
Over the years, we have put together many proposals and developed creative concepts for possible partnerships that were never consolidated. Middle East companies rarely provide feedback or compliment the work submitted. If you try to contact them they never return your calls or emails and it is difficult to know what has happened to the work done. For the creative industry this is very frustrating and discouraging.
We would like to share with you some of the best concepts we have developed in the region to date. Hopefully “internet power” will prevail and our creatives will get the praise they deserve.
