Duo
Britain’s first low-cost, all business-class airline was conceived in 2003 with the aim of delivering a completely new type of service offer; a stylish, high quality, single class airline. The plan being to bridge the increasing gap in quality between the budget airlines and the more expensive national carriers
We were asked to create a distinctly European brand, which communicated a high standard of personal service, while clearly articulating the unique low-cost positioning, to business and leisure travellers. This was no easy task, especially with just 16 weeks until launch.
-
Building a partnership
The strategy we developed focused on building a close relationship between the airline and its passengers. The name ‘Duo’ summed up the vision of the brand.

-
A distinct identity
The sophisticated brandmark we designed was supported by a subtle colour palette to appeal to a European business audience.

-
A smart welcome
We created a clean, modern and professional pre-flight area, welcoming and engaging travellers.

-
Airline lounges
Based on the core idea of high quality, but great value for money, we created smart and refreshing passenger waiting lounges, which were perfect for work, rest and play, for business travellers and tourists.

-
High flyers
We created understated, yet confident liveries which complimented the offer of an all business class airline.

-
Flying in style
The understated confidence continued on-board with luxurious interiors, reflecting the quality of the offer, not the reasonable price.

-
Staff uniforms
Working closely with a uniform retailer, we created stylish uniforms, which focused on carefully crafted details.

-
A personal service
Creating a tailored, personal service for travellers at every touchpoint was essential to developing a unique customer experience.

-
On-line offer
The website sold a value service, but ensured the high level quality was communicated through the sophisticated visual and verbal language.

-
Selling the brand
Intelligent communications appealed to discerning business and leisure travellers.

-
Managing the brand
We prepared a detailed guideline document that would allow Duo to manage and implement their own identity.
